This is accurate.

My mom is like this - “They’re all corrupt” she’s told me.

Yet, somehow, every time she goes into the voting booth, with eyes closed, finger circling blindly over the computer screen to randomly pick any candidate, her finger always ends up on the circle next to Trump’s name.

PS. Make protests comfortable for the most normal, conventional people you can possibly get out to them. This has got to be a mainstream movement. It’s not the place for people to reserve for edgy thrills. It’s not time for factionalism. We need the optics of regular folks on the street.

But, I will still try to see the beauty and wonder of this world. That’s all still here. And I do firmly believe we need to see that beauty, too, and create beauty and joy where and when we can.

And justice is a beautiful thing. Hopefully, it will rise from the ashes of all that’s burning down.

So, I am bound by my own ethics, my own humanity, to share what’s really going on in Chicago, surrounding suburbs, and Illinois.
It’s not pretty. It’s not flowery, it reeks, it’s a foul, putrid thing, this depraved cruelty inflicted on my fellow humans. I cannot sit by and be silent about it.

The world needs to know what we know, see what we’re seeing, hear what we hear…
I am privileged enough to not be targeted..yet.
But my neighbors are, my community is, and I could not look back after this is all over, and think - I should have spoken up when I was in an easy position to do so.

But participating in the BlueSky writing community also means logging onto BlueSky regularly… and it’s almost impossible to avoid accounts of all that’s ugly, evil, and wrong in the wider world.

And I feel especially obligated to repost some of this ugliness bc it’s happening where I live.

It’s a joy to wake up daily, see what the #DailyHaikuPrompt is, then write accordingly. I love reading everyone else’s poems here, and love having a space to share mine.
It’s one thing saving me from complete despair at a time when the place I live is being targeted by my own nation and govt.

Hope is a powerful thing.

When there's no way in sight, it can guide you.

When you are out of strength it can renew you.

Yet, hope is a living thing. It must be fostered and sustained.

It can be born of one, but thrives among many.

And if cared for, it will tell the story of what it survived.

I’m concerned about their publishing this guys name and photo, but I also assume he gave permission to do so.

Even so, bless this man.
