Superman managed to pack the Ukrainian conflict, the Palestinian genocide, journalistic ethics, transgenderism (Gary), the morality of killing a kaiju, immigration, the importance of kindness and irresponsible pet ownership into just over 2 hours. One criticism: maybe too much going on.

As the child of immigrants, the Superman story has resonated with me since I was a little boy. What Gunn describes here is everything Christopher Reaves's Superman represented for me as a child. I have so much hope.
