Indeed, we live in unprecedented times. Are today's historians doing ok? What with being ignored like Cassandra, to seeing so much new history being made, we should check on the welfare of scholars of history and political science.

This is a wonderful visualization. Really neat to see how much effort was put into building this chart.

Whether they are actually trying to process an old file format or not, that's the size of an unsigned 16 bit integer. So they're running into some kind of really old limit in their workflow.

It's also kind of frustrating that streets are designed to be fast (straight, wide, open sight lines) and then limited by things like speed bumps, instead of designing streets that encourage people to slow down naturally.

August even! Fascinating! The business model maybe leads to system builders having earlier access than what is normally reported? Hard to find concrete information about earlier versions of TurboDOS.

No earlier than 1982. Tech had a longer shelf life back then, so I can't be sure how much later than that would be applicable, but TurboDOS was released in 1982, and the last release of it was 1983. So I would guess likely no later than 1984, and even that would be pushing it. Likely 82 or 83.

Both of these have happened to me in the last week. Just not in the same morning.

I was led to believe by R.E.M. that I would feel a lot better about this.

Granular lists of people, and specific settings to share only to them... This sounds familiar, as if there was a social network that supported sharing to a specific circle of friends...

They may have existing infrastructure to support the system that will no longer be available to use (North American data centers, CDNs, etc) which would be cost prohibitive to reimplement in another region without the ability to recoup those significant costs.

Those same crackpots will just say it's the border with Canada. But then you should see a few fuzzy blurs north of the frame. Not *all* of our population is next to the US border. Some people have chosen to live further north.
