@jimccasey1.bsky.social has already made me cry. @altnehgov.altgov.info was essential for me as a professional, for so many of us. My career, the friendships I hold so dear, my work -- I can never express enough gratitude.

good morning #ach2025! I'm looking forward to moderating a conversation about federal funding for digital humanities with amazing former NEH colleagues. ❤️✨ We'll we talk about more than fifty years of funding for digital humanities projects, and where we go from here.

This is fascism—there are no checks & balances if legislators are arrested for questioning a member of the executive branch.

I struggle to understand how to best operate in this reality. I'm making incredible progress in my state, but uprooting this kind of evil feels beyond the scope of my office.

On the "three mantras of Long DH" (Futurebuilding DH) from Johannes Burgers:
1) "go slow and build things",
2) "teamwork makes the dreamwork, but nagging helps" (people-first proj management),
3) "love your data like you love yourself" (tech changes, data doesn't; set your data free!). #ACH2025

I have so much respect for how @ach.bsky.social approaches its annual conference. Virtual can be tough, but travel right now is tougher. The last day includes a "Care Fair" w/ guided sessions to support wellbeing—whether through rest, companionship, or political action. A good place to gather 💫
