I'm excited that this book is out. It's about what happens when your heroes turn out to be bad people. The writing is funny, the art is done in a very detailed black-and-white ink style, and alas, the topic is highly relevant to current events.

Yeah, and herding traits are genetic, which is fascinating. Esme doesn't have them and I don't think her siblings got them, either.

Poor Bella is also about 1/4 rat terrier so her herding behaviors also come with terrierness which is not the best combination in the world I wouldn't say.

It feels like people think calling it "artificial intelligence" makes it magic. Which is more or less in line with what eugenicists wanted by calling the traits they did "intelligence" and telling everyone those traits make someone a better, more valuable person, so.

It feels very much like being herded into a pen. Meanwhile, when Esme doesn't come when called (frequently), Bella goes to get her for me or to corner her on the recliner for me to retrieve her.

As a teenager, before I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety and all of it, I got such a feeling of being seen and understood in how Rob Thomas talks about his internal life.

She's vibing a lot with the mental illness stuff in the lyrics which is fair. I think that's probably what drew me into Matchbox Twenty stuff as a teenager. Not specifically in "Unwell" but mental illness is an overarching theme in a lot of Matchbox Twenty stuff from their first few albums.
