An Egyptian dude figured out that if you partially filled a plastic bottle with rice and other grains and threw it into the ocean from Egypt at the correct place given currents the bottles would wash ashore in Gaza within 96 hours so ordinary Egyptians are doing it and... it's worked?

This stopped me cold. I just keep reading the headline. It seems literally impossible to me, that this thing that cut through an entire generation has an answer now.

It's impossible to convey how terrifying those years were, how much loss there was, how much pain. My heart. It feels like a miracle.

The reorganization of USDA announced this morning includes closure of the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center as well as functional reassessment of the National Agricultural Library building on the BARC campus. A sad day for the many of us who worked at BARC.
