The finished piece. It features layered ripped paper with painted flowery elements in the main colors of dark red, green, blue, and yellow. The "beneath" layer has aster flowers, while the above layer consists of passion flowers and abstract sunflowers.
The finished piece next to my materials. I painted both layers with gouache, then ripped up and glued the top layer to conceal most of the bottom to create a "broken glass" or shattered appearance.

Blue flowers with a band of white around the petal margin surrounded by green fern-like leaves and purple blobs that look like geodes. The composition is like a cross between a coffee stain and lichen.
A sideways view that I like a lot. It makes the flowers appear to be sprawling outwards like they're blooming from a growing ink blot. The abstract petals reach forward like the flower branches of Canada Goldenrod, which I liken to certain fireworks.
I had a suspected psychotic episode and kept seeing these shapes and flowers, so I painted them. They make so much sense together.

The pouch is a crocheted material in dark orange with lighter blue embroidery. It has a drawstring with wooden beads. The pouch lies next to the blue Canon camera.
The pouch all by itself, laid flat against a white background
The pouch with the camera inside. Connected to the camera is a black string loop that sticks out the top of the pouch.
I made a pouch for my camera! :)

A stout cylindrical container made of birch bark. It is stitched together with dark waxed thread. The top closes by looping around a wooden piece sewn into the center of the vessel.
A view showing the top and back of the container. The top is woven using thin strips and the back is stitched with a zig-zag pattern. The container itself is a little bigger than the palm of my hand.
I made a Birchbark container for all the beads I've been collecting :)
It's not an easy medium to work with but it smells great.
I harvested from a freshly fallen tree.

A painting inside of a wooden frame. The painting is a view of bare trees against a field. The brushstrokes are a bit impressionist and colorful. Done in gouache.

Two origami pine trees in a light green color. One is slightly smaller than the other.
I forgot to post yesterday so here's the origami pine trees I did (although not true origami as one step required scissors)
I've been wanting to harvest birch bark for a basket but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Hopefully tomorrow, but I've been a little burnt out creatively as of late.

Holding the flower. The stem has been shaped into a loose letter "s". The flower is yellow with lighter embroidery accents. There is one leaf on the stem
A closer view of the yellow flower, showing the beads hung by embroidery floss that I sewed into the middle. The beads hang when the stem is angled to face the flower down.
The flower lying flat on a table with the stem angled in a hook-shape.
Day 4 of creating something everyday
The oven was in use, so I couldn't bake my wren sculpture yet. I instead spent two hours on this felt and embroidery flower with an adjustable stem.
I really enjoy this medium. Maybe I could make a whole bouquet!

Day 3 of creating something everyday
I was having a rough day so I didn't do much. I sculpted this little wren out of oven bake clay. I plan to bake and paint her tomorrow.
The recent politics have been stressing me out. I often feel hopeless, so I have to keep creating. It's all I can do.

The almost finished tapestry still on the loom
A close up of the woven stitches
Day 2 of creating something everyday
Today I made a cardboard loom and weaved this little tapestry using yarn.
It's a little wonky but I like it.

The brooch in my hand. I used white beads and wrapped them with red embroidery thread to make the 3 berries.
A closer view of the finished holly. I just need to add a safety pin on the back and I can start wearing it!
Day One of creating something everyday
I wanted something festive to pin on my coat, so I embroidered this holly using felt, beads, and thread.
It took me 3 hours and I loved every minute of it.

I'll say. My years in public school were the worst of my life. I've only really flourished after an early graduation.

Sorry for the second comment, I just had to say this: I briefly looked at your website and I'm blown away by the colors and perspective of your art! Absolutely inspiring, I hope to someday make graphic novels too.

A view of two large trees with more in the background. The small cedars and scraggly bur oaks indicate this area was once a tallgrass prairie; a now endangered type of habitat due to farming and suburban sprawl.
There's a spot in my neighborhood between the houses where you can see into the woods surrounding the creek.
I know that soon a house will be built here, and the ancient Burr Oaks will be cut down-- so I painted the view to immortalize it. Art helps ease the sadness of loss.
Done in gouache :)

Nature has had billions of years to refine and perfect the process of regeneration, and yet, humans still think they know better! It's my belief that the best thing we can do for nature is to let it do its thing.

Here's Mr. Rat watering his plants. This drawing took me way too long (can you tell I rushed the background?) P.S. I need help naming him! Mr. Rat is only temporary.
Thought I'd share this rat fella I drew on Ibispaint :)
He's based off a sculpture that I made. I don't know what his story is yet, but I do know that he likes gardening a lot.

The finished painting alongside my materials (I only use really small brushes). I also use seashells and broken ceramic as palettes.
Just finished a landscape! I forced myself to slow down and pace this one out, as usually I want to do the whole thing in one sitting.
The view is from a native prairie not far from me. I used gouache on Arches paper :)
