But thats because they are hugely based of WW1 French/German Trench Warfare. Thats the whole reason for the whole shovel meme even if its not even that special in their lore besides being a normal tool.
Anyway they have alot of other interesting things to offer.

Im always kinda sceptic about Warhammer Meme influencing acutal Lore so i tried to find some info. Didn't read any DKoK Story or Novel yet but as far as i could find it turns out that shovels are barely or never even mentioned at all.
Sure they dig trenches and shovels are the main tool.

I got my first box of Death Korps of Krieg yesterday.
Already built them and you know what. There is no single shovel in this set. Lot of WH40k fans and memes reduce them to shovel guys.
I looked up other DKoK Sets and couldnt find any shovel. Maybe i missed one.
