Vancouver Police Department - Allegation of Police Quotas On June 3, 2025, Prof. Perrin made the following written submissions to the Vancouver Police Board regarding concerns about alleged police quotas as part of "Task Force Barrage".

A police whistleblower alleges the VPD is imposing arrest quotas on officers in the Downtown Eastside. Here are my submissions to the Vancouver Police Board calling for an independent, transparent, evidence-based inquiry into these allegations.

Enjoyed speaking today to lawyers across the province with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service.

We covered ways AI and criminality intersect, AI tools police have used, practical advice on generative AI, professional obligations, and handling deepfake evidence concerns.

Regardless of how the meeting with President Trump goes, PM Mark Carney has set out a clear plan to build Canada's economy and to strengthen our international alliances.

While hoping for the best, Canadians aren't naive and will prepare for the worst.

4th place this weekend! Post-race tacos never tasted so good. Spartan Sprint (5 km, 20 obstacles).

4th out of 58 in Men ages 45-49; overall: 77/1481 (5th percentile).

Next stop: Mt Tremblant, QB in June - a 21 km mountain race with 30 obstacles. That will be toughest one yet.

PM Mark Carney and Premier Danielle Smith had a "positive" first meeting. Great news.

There is no reason why Alberta can't thrive in a united Canada. Let's work together folks as Canadians.

You don't like a court decision, appeal it

You don't throw away an independent, impartial judiciary in favour of a U.S.-style elected bench over a decision on bike lanes

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim promised in 2022 that he would hire 100 new police and 100 new mental health professionals.

He took no time in doing the former, and still has failed to deliver on the later.

Poilievre says he would give police more power to dismantle tent cities Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said Wednesday he would give police more power to dismantle tent cities, which he said are making public spaces unsafe -- but his plan is light on details.

Heartless. Cruel. Wrong. Unconstitutional.

Poilievre would criminalize our fellow Canadians who are experiencing homelessness.

This man cannot wield power.

Poilievre wants to override fundamental rights in service of β€˜tough on crime’ policies that won’t even work The Conservative leader's cavalier attitude toward civil liberties should alarm all Canadians.

A clear choice this election, described in today's Financial Times:

Poilievre: β€œcourting the far-right”, β€œdriven by anger”, β€œaggressive”, β€œreminiscent of the β€˜MAGA movement”

Carney: β€œstable”, β€œantidote to Trump’s chaos and a tariff-induced recession”

CANADIAN REPORTER: Trump's tone on Canada has shifted. He stopped talking about Canada becoming the 51st state.

Trump and Poilievre both want to interfere with academic freedom and independent thought.

As Harvard said: No government should dictate what universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.

Election Watch: Poilievre’s Failed U.S. β€œThree Strikes” Proposal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre’s proposed β€œthree strikes” law is a discredited β€œtough on crime” policy imported from the United States.

My op/ed: @PierrePoilievre's β€œthree strikes” proposal is a failed US import that raises homicides by up to 29% and leads to absurd sentences (25 years for pizza theft in California). It’s also patently unconstitutional.
