I think I just want to let that part of myself, my ancestery, recognized as it is. For better or worse, I'm Adige.

had to assimilate themselves to survive. I don't know how to speak Adigabze. I don't know most of our traditions. I live in a vague place, not knowing where I belong in the world because the world my ancestors belonged to doesn't exist anymore. I don't believe we should bring the lands back, 4/?

caucasian(as in from the people of West Caucasus), an Adige, doesn't make me white. I really dislike being grouped together with a whole other group of people just because of what, skin color? I especially dislike being seen as a part of conquerors and assimilators when my ancestors themselves 3/?

I never considered that I might be white because I belong to this country, as much as one can when they're of a different ethnicity than the majority. But does that make my ancestory "boring"? I don't think so. White people have so many ethnicities that get grouped together and me being 2/?

I have big feelings about this so here is a thread:

I always considered myself to be Circassian AND a citizen of Turkey. I'm not a Turk but I'm Turkish because I'm of this country. My ancestors, having lost in a war years and years ago, came to the lands that were then called Ottoman Empire. 1/?

Recently realized I might technically be "white". As someone born and raised in Turkey, it never occurred to me that I might not be my ethnicity to the world around me. I'm Circassian, my ancestors were exiled to Ottoman Empire and I'm just, white? That feels like it erases a big part of who I am.

I can't but that may be because I don't have enough experience with board games. Though my first reaction was "Piper is the queen, definitely" 😂

I did only three assignments in total yesterday and today but it feels like such a weight off my shoulders! I'm ready to do some freewriting now to warm up for my wip draft 💪 I need to finish a significant section of it by the end of June but I'm gonna try and spend these days in a productive way

The expressions on this cover was a big part of what drew me into this story!
