Lady Macbeth was a widow with no prospects/power. Aligning herself with Macbeth is a bold, smart move.(It happens in other plays). So why would he gravitate towards her?
She has a force & strength that attracts/excites him…perhaps he embraces an ambition in her that empowers him…

Clue is in the specificity of Shakespeare’s text.
IF the babe had been theirs, Lady M would’ve aimed more devastatingly cruel, incendiary language at the father!
+MacDuff clearly states Macbeth has no children.
+Lady M did have at least 1 child from previous marriage.

Different in 1st preview.
Her death & his reaction was not as visually striking/visceral as restaging.
Lia is a superb, veteran stage actress. It was frustrating to see Lady M manipulated to accommodate Macbeth’s journey which compromised hers.
Still Lia’s talent ensured a compelling portrayal.

Agree-I’ve ALWAYS felt there was an age difference. Historically it’s Lady M’s 2nd marriage. The babe she has “given suck to” is not theirs.
She can’t give him children so she aspires to give him 👑!
So rich & Lia could’ve portrayed IF she’d been given opportunity!

A lot of people outside Chicago do not know what's happening in Chicago. They don't know about the broad daylight disappearances. They don't know about the tear gas. They don't know how communities are organizing against all this.

Tell as many people as you can.

I wouldn’t be too judgmental with critics. They’re buying what RSC was selling.
And likely influenced as they were surrounded by adoring SamFans who couldn’t help but swoon… being that close.
Acknowledging Sam’s known hunk status but going on to assess his performance respectfully…has merit.

It’s disappointing as Lia Williams, a veteran British stage star, does fine work … though perhaps too subtle for director’s loud concept. And her part has been majorly altered which Lia handles beautifully.

TBH… the production emphasizes his physical presence (white tank tops)…(too much, I think) AND thanks to stereotypical assumption…the more fascinating choice of Lady M being several years older seems implausible IE why would such a hot guy be with an aging, not classically attractive woman…😟

Great review for Macbeth!
I saw the 1st preview…clearly ALOT was changed-for the better.
TBH, Lia Williams stood out for me as well…and it seems they’ve given her even more deserved focus… and Sam has found his footing… so nice to feel his fullness at being home.

It was delightful… a tad slow at times but intent on giving each beloved character its due.
Like spending a few hours with treasured old friends…
Went with dear old (figuratively & literally) friends which made it even more special.
A wonderful fitting end…

Is it a brilliant adaptation of an ancient tune like OL or written originally and specifically for BLOOD? Either way still evocative… and haunting…
