Can you share your stats source on the balance of shots taken? Today vs 15 yrs ago? It sure looks like the Cs shoot more threes than most (any) other team. And yes, players are indeed bigger stronger faster. Maybe that also means the need to reward the 3 is no longer warranted.

Fans don’t see the creation work behind most 3’s (example Pritchard runs to the line and fires away like a kid in a playground). It’s obvi way harder than it looks and defences are better than ever. But it’s just a basketball play. Why award it more?

That also means 43 of the attempts were of a variety of different moves and skills and types/levels of athleticism…and 40 were doing the same thing over and over. Yes, they were more on their game today. Excellent on both sides of the ball.

So the scenario is they burn clock with everyone running to the perimeter to tuck up on a shooter and THEN there’s either a 3 anyway or maybe if the fans are lucky they may attempt to drive to the net? Basketball has to continue to be so much more than that.

There’s not much OG can do when the ball is either at a dead stop in 1 player’s hands, or moving only between a few players. There were few plays called that involved him offensively, which is whack if you ask me. Celtics D is excellent. Both coaches in this series are wearing blinders.

Describe “taking away 3’s” in a way that doesn’t create a game with 10 players beyond/on the perimeter - you’re describing moving the whole game away from the hoop. For me, as a fan and not a purist, I want to see a bunch of all kinds of things. But only one thing scores more than all others.
