You are wrong; the government has no business “tackling” perverse jury verdicts. The freedom of action of juries is a cornerstone of a free country and should be praised by all lawyers in particular.

Starmer and Cooper have fallen into the trap every government meets: you convince yourself that every problem must be met with a tough decision. In the end, you are just a slave to the news cycle as you move further away from the party you were and the platform that got you elected.

It is a measure of how bad things have become that a Labour government did not execute these and more (like workers’ rights and leasehold reform) within the first 100 days. The media/ Jenrick/Farage will never agree with any left of centre moves so stop worrying about them! Improving lives wins GEs.
