Yeah I think it’s silly to build a top 5 ambition PL side around 30 year old Palhinha. He’s a guy you bring in on loan to close out matches or to shield when your FBs and attackers are extra attacking.

Almost exactly the same place we were in after the Kudus signing, which is the most frustrating piece.

Agreed, in the cases I’ve seen the comparison to the last manager is less pro/con and more the style of play is so different that it’s inefficient team planning (and also thus far not terribly enjoyable viewing)

I was anti moving Ange to begin with but pivoting wildly when we had so many (young talented) players who fit that style was madness.

My primary complaint about TEI, I think Nathan is too hard on himself regarding Ange, and I think a 3rd season with Kudus, Xavi, and Danso would have us feeling better at the moment.

So much of the last 6 months feels like it has Paratici’s writing on it, which is concerning, because his managerial process has been garbage.

If this were true, Saturday’s lineup should have featured Bergvall/Odobert/Tel instead of Bentancur/Sarr/Johnson.

I think part of what is making it a bummer for me is that I like Xavi, but he’s replacing Madders, I like Kudus but he’s shifting BJ into a spot he’s not as effective, I like Kolo Muani, but he seems to be Solanke injury insurance. And Deki is out longer than expected…

This is a good shout also. I think the only players that I’d pen into the lineup when they aren’t being rested is Romero and VdV. Though I assume Xavi and Kudus eventually.

With Romero and Van De Ven in the side? No I don’t think so at all. Frank just got this one wrong. Now this is pre-Xavi, so we’ll see but I don’t think Palhinha has a place in the matches against the PL mid card. Needs to trust Tel/Odobert/Bergvall and maybe even Gray more.

Great thread that goes into what I mentioned earlier in more detail. Not a reason to panic, but disappointing before an international break at home. Palhinha has uses (against big teams like City/PSG and maybe low block teams where you play more aggressively with your front 5) but not today.

Destiny back, Tel and Odobert looked lively.

I thought that was the worst match Spurs have played since they’ve had the Romero-VdV partnership. Playing Palhinha/Bentancur/Sarr/BJ against a team that was very likely to press was malpractice
