1/3 We have revealed ZinS as the first small regulatory RNA involved in a zinc-sparing response in bacteria. ZinS (formerly RsaX20) negatively regulates Zn-dependent enzymes, including alcohol dehydrogenase to spare this essential element for S. aureus survival and virulence.
