@raskin.house.gov came out BIG in support of federalism and supporting the states' role as "laboratories of democracies." An AI moratorium trades away our protections for absolutely nothing in return.

Thank you, RM Raskin for standing up for civil rights, labor rights, and online safety.

@hankjohnson.house.gov makes it crystal clear, an AI moratorium that the House GOP is pushing is a "race to the bottom."

The House GOP Judiciary Committee witness is dead wrong about "one state" setting AI standards. A blanket AI moratorium is a blank check for Big Tech that undermines laws in ALL 50 STATES. Learn more about which laws would be impacted. Read @publiccitizen.bsky.socialanalysis here.

A Teen Was Suicidal. ChatGPT Was the Friend He Confided In.

More and more stories and lawsuits are continuing to come out on chatbots. This is a really important product liability space to watch. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/26/t...

An AI moratorium is a disaster for many reasons. It is also a disaster for kids. It's okay to acknowledge that we're in uncharted territory with chatbots. We don't yet know how much of a disaster they will be. Early returns: PRETTY BAD.

ChatGPT logs below coaching a minor on how to commit suicide.

This is what the AI moratorium is all about – exempting Big Tech AI companies from all state laws in exchange FOR NOTHING.

Why would we trade away labor rights, civil rights, kids safety, and environmental protections to give Big Tech a get-out-of-jail-free card?

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

The ideological inconsistencies in the Google remedy are mind-boggling and flat out don't make sense. The Department of Justice should appeal.

This needs to be discussed more. Even if AI bots are not formally designed to have personalities they kind of do. It would be incredibly easy for these programmatic traits to confuse some people and lull them into thinking what they're engaging with has some level of sentience.

β€œMeta, Apple, Google, OpenAI, and their ilk will never regulate themselves, so we urgently need to do it before more children die and more families are destroyed. In Adam Raine’s memory, we have an opportunity to prevent future tragedies β€” if lawmakers will listen.”

The same wk the parents of a teen who took his own life w the help of ChatGPT sued OpenAI, Meta & Big Tech AI announced they'd be playing in political elections.

I wrote in @MSNBC how Big Tech willingly risks the lives of our kids & how lawmakers must reject their $$$. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

Meta bankrolls parent and child-safety organizations that are supposed to advocate for kids β€” but instead promote Meta’s own initiatives.

When the PTA or a β€œsafety group” backs Meta’s features, it creates the illusion of broad, expert endorsement. Parents see credibility β€” not corporate PR.

🚨 NEW REPORT: A new investigation by @ttp-updates.bsky.social exposes how Meta funds parent and child safety groups β€” like the National PTA β€” to launder its talking points.

Parents are worried about Instagram & kids’ mental health. Instead of fixing the problem, Meta built another spin machine 🧡
