The Surprise 1990 Hit That Redefined β€œIndie” and Launched a Few Stars The crowd-pleasing comedy is finally coming to the Criterion Collection.

The 1990 classic House Party celebrated its 35th anniversary last year. A bona fide classic, it has deservedly received the @criterion.bsky.social treatment in all of its zany and energetic glory. I was lucky enough to chat w/ writer/director @reghud.bsky.social about its lasting impact and legacy.

[peevishly to Michael as if in a spousal argument] and when he said that when they ordered pancakes, he just sipped the sizzurp β€” what did you THINK that meant?

A great trend in tennis is the arms race toward maximizing the number of older-middle-aged guys in your box who have an aesthetic that can only be described as β€œtechno Wes Anderson”

Jim Harbaugh is right on the cusp between Baby Boom and Gen X which is interesting because he obviously doesn’t belong in either (was spiritually born the same year as Douglas MacArthur)

Serious question is there a place besides Google Trends to measure the usage of ubiquity of a meme/phrase over time

We should always refer to it as Indiana University of Indiana to distinguish from Cignetti's prior job at Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Essentially the case I made against message test-maxxing, I think. It’s not inherently wrong or bad, but it’s myopic.

But the thing I haven’t seen is any suggestion that there is a plan to use the money to invest and create more money later. It looks like take the money, spend it on debt and operating expenses, pay back more of it later out of TV funds.

They’ve already made the broadcasts nearly an hour longer than NFL games, while the NFL pays its players much more and is (I’m pretty sure) very profitable, for advertising revenue. The option of making payroll more predictable with collective bargaining is right there. What am I missing?

Maybe I’m missing something about the accounting here but I do not understand how borrowing money from someone who then has to be paid back more money later is β€œrevenue.”

One of the best projects I ever participated in was sending reporters out to attempt to use every bathroom in the NYC subway system that was allegedly in service ~2005. The findings were grim.
