Having the scene where he takes down the phone system cut did him a disservice. He toasted a job well done with the rats and walked out of that building with swagger. I'm not saying he's peak demon, he's soft, but I don't see him as spineless, willowy, wet, or some of the other things I've seen.

Reading Good Omens again, and it never really registered the cleverness of Crowley’s plan to lure Hastur into the phone line and escape before his voice mail picked up. Also, that he couldn’t bring himself to destroy Hastur once he was trapped in the voice mail tape, though the thought had occurred.
