Started working on a new spoon tonight. This one is alder - one of four BeaverCraft spoon blanks I bought recently. Iβm using them for practice. I still plan on making spoons from greenwood as well. #spooncarving #whittling #woodcarving

This beautiful book by Alex Finberg just arrived. Iβve only just browsed through it, but it looks great and itβs definitely just what I needed. π #spooncarving #whittling #woodcarving

My first #knifemod / blade reprofiling. I watched some tutorials and used my Skerper Pocket Stone and BeaverCraft Honing Paddle. I might need to hone it some more⦠Top: The regular Victorinox pen blade on my Huntsman. Bottom: The reprofiled pen blade on my Camper. #whittling #woodcarving #victorinox

2nd spoon completed. Iβm still very much a beginner, but I think thereβs a little improvement. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―

Nice! BeaverCraft has a lot of good beginner sets. I wanna get one of their carving axes.

I really like that it has two blades. So useful and easy to drop in a pocket if you want to whittle on the go.

#woodcarving Second attempt - the new on at the bottom. Iβm not sure which one is better (or less bad), but I did try out a few different blades and a gouge on the new one.

Yeah, the Detail Jack only has that one (detail) blade. On the other hand the blade locks, so that might be a selling point for some people. Also, itβs cheaper than the Whittlinβ Jack.

Thanks! I really want to get the Whittlinβ Jack (or maybe the Detail Jack for starters) too. Brian from the Carving is Fun YouTube channel has a nice review of all the Flexcut jacks.

My first ever #woodcarving project using my Flexcut KN14 knife on basswood/linden. Itβs supposed to be a butter knife.

My beginnerβs #woodcarving kit so far. The Morakniv Basic 511 is just an add-on that can be used for other craft stuff as well.
