When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Sometimes I write software @ https://juicermv.github.io
WIP RTGI. Now doing 2 indirect lighting, there are still some issues, but working on them
31.10.2025 13:34 โ ๐ 16 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1Testing out HWRT, BVH. Now all lighting is combined. The left image is with Skyshadowmap, Sunshadow, SSGI + SSR. The Right image is just SunShadow, Now Skylighting/SSGI/SSR is now all wrapped in HWRT. It just works
25.10.2025 15:17 โ ๐ 17 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0More BVH work, Now able to seamlessly load BVH across the zones as each zone have their own BVH(BLASes) with some overlaps in-between. I am yet to move the builds to Async compute queues and is next on my list as all this is foundational work for RT.
25.10.2025 09:18 โ ๐ 16 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Progress on BVH/HWRT Implementation. Support lookup buffers to fetch the Triangle data for hit point, other attributes like vertex colors will be added as well. The Normal is important part as bounce calculations will be based on that.

22.10.2025 18:30 โ ๐ 55 ๐ 4 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Super weird seeing Battlefield being so unambitious from a graphical quality perspective. Battlefield 3 and 5 were pioneering.

19.09.2025 16:56 โ ๐ 139 ๐ 7 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 2Also what do you think of Ray Reconstruction on Switch 2? Is it possible at all do you think?
The denoising here clearly doesnโt utilize it, I wonder whatโs the performance margin sweet spot needed here.

Hi Alex, have you seen this? Can you comment on this at all lol since itโs technically a leak?
This is super impressive, it would be awesome if DF could sit down with the Snowdrop people again to discuss their work here.

โชHoly shit dude. Is Avalanche done for? This was the only thing coming out of them since Just Cause 4 in 2018.
Is there anything regarding a potential sequel at least?
Made a blog post about all the technology and updates about Darksouls3 Lighting engine.

Also the cubemap fallback for RT reflections is still extremely flawed, as it only captures the environment around the player but is projected onto everything including buildings in the distance, meaning that if you go under a bridge for example it will be reflected onto those buildings which is bad

I really loved the coverage of GTA V Enhanced on PC that you did at DF, I feel like itโs worth mentioning though that it seems like the ocean in the game is left off the BVH, which causes boats to reflect the ocean floor and glow orange which looks very odd.

30.01.2025 09:17 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Do you think weโll see better RTAO than what we have on PS5 Pro or is it going to be just an augmentation of SSAO like we have there
30.01.2025 08:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The point is that your average desktop user will literally shit themselves if they ever even have to look at a terminal, and forcing them to do so is bad UX period.
And having an issue so serious in one of your operating system's core components is inexcusable.
Listen buddy, like I said, I fixed the issue myself without even having to google anything because I was already familiar with snap and how it works.
28.11.2024 23:24 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Sure buddy
28.11.2024 15:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Why have a graphical app store in the first place then? If you're just going to force the user to go to the terminal to begin with lol.
28.11.2024 07:39 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's ridiculous to claim Linux offers you "freedom" when in reality you're forced to use barely-supported software held up by the software equivalent of sticks and rope.
Linux is a great server operating system but the "Linux Desktop" is for the criminally insane.
And "forums" are not a Linux-exclusive concept. Forums literally exist for any topic out there, yet another stupid and weak argument that makes no sense.
Linux offers no "freedom" when it doesn't let you use proprietary formats. The concepts of HDR and VRR literally barely exist on Linux. I
I never bought a PC for "status" and this is literally completely irrelevant to the conversation. None of your "arguments" here hold any water at all lmao.
28.11.2024 07:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This entire stupid rant is debunked alone by the fact that multiple people have replied to me stating
you shouldn't even use Nvidia on Linux because AMD/Arc works better which is insane.
And "easy system updates" is not an argument when this is literally something all operating systems do well.
Yeah lmao, except it was happening while the Snap Store was running. I did end up obviously going to the terminal and manually updating everything but this is still terrible user experience for what is, again, supposed to be a beginner-friendly/entry-level distro lol.
28.11.2024 05:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0And in terms of actually pushing tech forward we've recently seen the Snapdragon X from Qualcomm as well as the various new mobile Intel & AMD CPUs all try to replicate Apple's efficiency and performance with their Arm chips.
They have had some success tbh, but still no market share lol.
Apple has been refining their software to run on their hardware efficiently by dropping support for 32 bit and moving over to Arm on the hardware.
I have a relatively high-end PC and Windows still runs sluggishly on it compared to MacOS on my MacBook Pro lol.
That's the thing, Windows is deprecating hardware while still running what is basically a 20 year old kernel with some revisions that it got over the years (hell W11's kernel version is still 10.0 lol.)
