01.12.2025 01:07 β π 31 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0A CERTIFIED MOOD. Could you tell I was irritated by yet another author claiming to "discover" something in a company archive when I wrote that?

22.11.2025 14:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I managed to keep my original one from the '80s going by swapping out bad components with RadioShack transistors and capacitors. It finally ran out of lives about 4 years ago, and I still miss it every morning.
20.11.2025 23:37 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And for the record, since this is a thing you have to say now: no AI was used for this book--not for the art, not for the research, not for the words. All the art was hand-drawn by artists or subjects of the book; all the thoughts came from my li'l brain; all the typos are 100% handcrafted by moi.

19.11.2025 18:58 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A tightly cropped picture of one of the pages of my book, which shows what I'm calling the "triangle of meaning": at the top, a thought bubble with the word "raccoon" in it; on the right bottom, the word "Raccoon" in quotes, and on the left bottom, a line drawing of a raccoon exiting the frame and giving the reader side-eye.
I commissioned an artist to draw a raccoon for my latest book, and finally got to show them the composed page with their illustration on it. π€© (It was great, their reaction was perfect, 10/10, can recommend.)

You should be preordering the hell out of it.
It's huge fun, and hugely informative. (And huge fun.)
Life is extremely kiki right now and I would really like it to be just a little more bouba
10.11.2025 17:30 β π 135 π 30 π¬ 0 π 1Ugh, I'm so sorry. It's not as though the extra stress is good for rest and recovery! (I hope there is no fuckery within 700 miles of your insurance claims.)
08.11.2025 19:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just bananas. And what happens when insurance decides to stop paying for it because it's expensive? It's a biologic, you can't just switch to generic!
08.11.2025 19:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0(It me, I was the lady at the low-paying job trying not to angry-cry in the company phone booth.)
08.11.2025 17:19 β π 18 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Anyway, be kind to the people around you, who may have to do things like call their doctors on their shift break at their low-paying job and beg the office to fix a billing code so the billion-dollar company they pay to cover healthcare expenses will agree to pay for their child's $300 inhalers.
08.11.2025 17:17 β π 30 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0NOW: we're fortunate. I have good health insurance through my job. We had already met our deductible for the year. Our policy has a low out-of-pocket maximum. My job also offers optional accident insurance to cover some bills that insurance won't pay.
We weren't always fortunate, though.
So, nu: Herr Maestro recently broke his neck. (He's home, no surgery, recovery going well, DON'T PANIC.) I made an offhand comment to him that, best guess, the ER visit and two-day hospital stay would cost around $100k. He was flabbergasted. No way.
I just checked the claims online. $93k so far.
