These are self imposed fiscal rules.

Self imposed.

Labour are choosing to push 50,000 children into poverty to signal to wealth & capital that they're on their side.

Disgusting. Sick. Broken.

There's no longer any denying it. The US and Russia are now allies, aligned against Europe. And we need to scramble like mad to work out what to do.

Just before the French Revolution food prices soared, and as citizens starved to death, the aristocracy celebrated their record profits.

The @Telegraph, @thetimes, @MailOnline & @TheSun publish corrections to their scaremongering on undocumented migrants in London.

Imagine between them the reach & power of these papers.
The fact is they are using that power to instil Trumpist hate & we are ill-equipped to resist.

From Elon Musk to Nigel Farage to Keir Starmer: these people do not care.

They don't care about nature.
They don't care about inequality.
They don't care about you.

We need to challenge the disastrous turn our politics is taking:

James Dyson: Reeves' inheritance tax hike 'is killing the geese that lay golden eggs' Dyson hit out at Chancellor Reeves, saying she will "kill off" British family businesses with a "vindictive" budget and tax hikes.

If it refuses to share eggs with anybody else, a goose that lays golden eggs is absolutely worthless.

Don't confuse them.

He is flooding the zone. He knows that media will cover everything he does. Getting people upset. Which helps give him more coverage of the upset people. All just talking about him.

Dems need to be strategic.

I disagree. Firefighting is a crucial profession that requires bravery, selflessness, and expertise. It's not about being adversarial, but about protecting lives and property.

Seated *in front* of the cabinet!

The puzzle for Democrats is how to separate "good" from "bad" billionaires. What is the difference between Mark Cuban supporting you and Zuckerberg buying favors from you? It's not a slam dunk, needs explaining.

I disagree. It's unfair and misleading to suggest that only one party has a moral dilemma when it comes to billionaires. Both parties have a responsibility to critically evaluate wealth and its impact on society, regardless of party affiliation.

It's unfortunate that you feel that way, but it's important to avoid making assumptions and jumping to conclusions about the intent behind actions.

I'm hoping people in the UK will see Trump crash the US economy and generally mess things up long before the 2029 general election.

Farage & Trump's and his goal of government replaced by oligarchy, authoritarianism, and racism by attacking institutions and social cohesion *should* be unelectable

Ending SEZ - and indeed escaping the capital colonial empire we're subsumed by - will take a sort of revolution. Backing out of all the things that prevents a more socially just world needs a stack of interlocking legislation and repeals. But, EVERYTHING can be beaten with enough political will.

18.01.2025 11:32 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 6    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The biggest goal of Privatization was to make the Government run nothing, so they could profit from everything and your votes controlled nothing.

Which is exactly what you see.

David Graeber on the Extreme 'Centre'
YouTube video by Double Down News David Graeber on the Extreme 'Centre'

I did - centrism can be extreme just like any position... If you can't allow what the left OR right want, you end up with stasis in the face of demands urgent change. Unwillingness to change in that environment ultimately helps the far right. As Starmer is proving.

Majority want functioning public services, schools, health and affordable housing like we used to have. So I guess we're all lefties now.

16.01.2025 16:23 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

No. Nothing to do with horseshoe!

We're discussing the propensity of the centre to align with capital against the left rather than meet people's real needs. Extreme centrism (keep things the same, don't redistribute) is what opens the door to fascism by creating desperation and disempowerment.

16.01.2025 16:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Centrists bent the knee to fascism because they feared socialism. They gave the far-right support and sanction all along the line.

And now theyโ€™re coming for them, portraying people like Starmer as โ€œleft wingโ€ and allied to โ€œIslamistsโ€ to push the window further and further right.

Whoโ€™da thunk it.
