Lots of people see all visible accommodations as granting undeserved or unnecessary special privileges. If you haven’t met any such people that’s very nice for you. I’m not sure why you’re so focused on that one word, but I assure you that there are people who get enraged over stuff like this.

I used to have a car that I would have to physically disconnect the battery every time I got home because if I didn’t it would be dead the next morning! I couldn’t afford to get it looked at to figure out what was draining it and it probably would have cost more than the junk value to fix anyway

I’m sorry for my stupid question, but if I have a setup with a dock where I physically swap out the work and personal laptop (they’re never both connected), that is a risk? I thought it was safe.

But I feel for the folks who live in the popular spots. They’re not all “affluent”, one of them really just got a rep for being low on car traffic and house-dense with sidewalks, so it’s popular for families with smaller kids. But they’re having to spend hundreds if they want to participate fully

The kids who do bother to trick or treat at my door are getting handfuls of candy because I don’t want this stuff sitting in my house.

There are a couple neighbourhoods that are known to be “good” for trick or treating and those neighbourhoods still report hundreds of kids so it’s not like everyone’s skipping the outdoor stuff in favour of the mall or other hosted events.

Man, I live in a family neighbourhood and when we moved here I thought Halloween was going to be a busy night but we’ve only had 14 kids come by. Apparently the rule of doing your own neighbourhood before heading to other ones is out of date?
