These are fabulously wealthy man-children who never had to grow up, who think they’re geniuses because we gave them a fuckton of money and if you have money you are good and smart and who the fuck needs a process anyway

Shortcutting it is good. Skipping it entirely is better (and eliminating any labor you have to compensate)

So yeah, it’s capitalism, in a somewhat oversimplified sense. But with techbros I think it’s also what I said before: a thing you are supposed to outgrow as you mature

I mean, I think it’s a natural human thing to want to skip the messy frustrating process part and get to the fun product. But that’s also an impulse you’re ideally supposed to outgrow

But capitalism has no use for process. There’s no quantifiable value in process. Process *costs* you

But these AI fucks don't want to do any of that: they don't want to go through the process of learning, of developing skills, of cultivating the ability to see what is in light of what can be. They think this process is archaic, outmoded, something that can be replaced with a tool.

A thing I’m trying to figure out how to write coherently about right now is that our culture has become saturated in a general obsession with product over process, often product at the *expense* of process, and one can’t really separate that from capitalism

Something that I have been thinking about with attribution of "PhD level intelligence" or "PhD level expertise" to a machine is that it reflects an increasing trend among these AI bros and their sycophants to want the products of highly skilled training without actually doing any of the work.

If you're the sort of person who's enthusiastic about getting a chance to make high school students read Hesiod in the original Greek, while teaching them how to parse academic articles, that's kinda messed up and welcome to the club, we have no cookies, we're broke.

That and that you have: a) a fucking amazing funding package; b) a wealthy family willing to slush you money; c) a spouse/partner who can support you; d) truly brain-melting amounts of debt; or e) some combination of any or all of the above

But yes in all seriousness it mostly just indicates a degree of willingness to focus so intensely on one highly specific thing for so long that there may be Something Wrong With You

And if there isn’t before there sure will be by the time you’re done
