ICE threw me and other protestors to the ground on Friday because we dared to stand up for our neighbors. I’m okay, but our communities aren’t.

Their waists and hands were tied together, forcing them to bend down and lick water to drink. The unscreened bathrooms contained only a single sheet to cover their lower bodies. In this moment of emergency, a lot of people are realizing that they can just… do things. Without people giving them directions or instructions, people are just showing up to escort their neighbors to school, to cook them meals, to share resources & support.

Spread calm. Tell the truth. Defend vulnerable people who are under attack. Getting stuck in a reactive mode is exhausting, and exhaustion can make us weak.
