I just saw The #NakedGun. I was crying with laughter throughout. Funniest new movie I have seen in YEARS. I grew up with the originals, and this film is worthy of the title! Will be seeing it again in theaters ASAP 🦉

Had the night off so I thought I’d go catch a movie.

The Naked Gun is a movie to see in the theater just to hear different people in the audience lose their shit over different jokes. There was a row of women who completely lost their minds when the bad guy reaches out to shake hands and says "Lt. Drebin" and Drebin goes "Hey, me too!"

I finally kept up a #wordle streak for over a year.

I've been working on a really neat project the last couple months and this weekend I've nearly finished it—just waiting on some academic feedback. I don't usually hype up my own projects before they're published but I'm so excited for this one.

Ooh, looks interesting. At the moment I'm only reading historic literature, but I'll put this on my list for the future. I love that people are still writing compelling retellings in modern times.

Two of my favorite parts are:

1. When Hera lets one of Achilles' horses talk back to him just to tell him off.

2. When Hermes is in the battle of the gods and immediately is like, fuck this, just say you beat me.

Classic stuff here.

I finished the Iliad (a week ago). It's THE war story. Gripping, tragic, funny at times too. Every battle scene you've ever seen owes something to it. And god is Achilles the biggest little emo crybaby ever born.

The Silver Lake Public Library had a $1 Book Sale today! I had to visit. Nice little haul, especially for the price.

Reading more #classics in rough Epic Cycle order, we have Iphigenia at Aulis by Euripides next. A flip-flopping king and wife unhappy with sacrificing her daughter. Things do NOT turn out well for him when he finally gets home. The only extant pre-Iliad play!

Pandora's box comes from here, as does the phrase "golden age" even though it was first meant as an age of men literally made out of gold. He also goes off on his lazy brother about the value of hard work. Roughly contemporary to Homer around the 8th century BCE. Reading his fragmentary stuff soon.

I'm reading through the #classics! First up were Hesiod's two primary works, Theogony & Works and Days. Half of the classic Greek myths you know are from here, PLUS a guide on when and where to urinate. What more do you need? This book truly has it all.

I don't think they went under that name, no. Never saw it mentioned. They didn't perform the full Tchaikovsky, but I didn't expect them to, the focus was more on the light motion work. I don't know anything about the scam possibility, but I can say that I enjoyed it and tickets were not expensive!

Six months ago my freezer was regularly full of processed food, pizza, and junk. But I have changed! All clean and healthy veggies and mealpreps for months now, and I've never felt better.
