My theory is they are mimicking Mamdani's own videos, which they themselves perceive as parodic b/c they cant believe that anyone sincerely believes that it would be good to help poor people. They think he's running a scam and the way to expose it is this.

Theres a strange idea circulating that people's words & ideas have no relationship to their character. Like when we were supposed to be appalled that a journalist pointed out that Steven Miller is a hateful person. I appreciate you correctly perceiving the link between words/ideas & character.

On my to do list *was*: look into a Protonmail account. Have seen them recommended by prominent folks concerned about tech security/avoiding other pitfalls of big tech and getting off American-made tech.

Anyways, never mind that.

Is it possible to imagine a better future where we use less computation? The effects of AI hype almost demand it.

This week @danmcquillan.bsky.social joins @parismarx.com to lay out the concept of decomputing as a different way of assessing technology.

I should have written "are considered management." Not sure our status/domains of power really do = management, but thats how labor law has been treating it.

Faculty at private colleges are management. Not formally unionizable. But a robust AAUP chapter would help.

β€œThis is becoming so like Nazi Germany:” The cruelty of throwing hordes into camps in un-American Today in Ohio podcast hosts draw stark comparisons to historical atrocities as families are torn apart and taxpayers foot the mounting bill

The number of immigrants detained in Ohio jails has tripled since January.

President Trump's mass deportation plans are inhumane and reckless. Local law enforcement should reject his overreaching and harmful agenda.

Joanna Macy, a foundational figure in Buddhism and ecology, has passed away. She trained Stephanie Kaza (the most sophisticated American writer in this field) and many others, was a pioneer in facing eco-anxiety, and tireless activist.
