2/2 ....and KEZI 9 publishes a video with a chyron that makes it sound like they arrested an Asian gang.

1/2 Last week, the #EugeneOR City Council unanimously voted to turn off the city's Flock cameras temporarily while they research.

Then, EPD Chief Skinner announced the arrest of seven people in relation to burglaries targeting the Asian community, citing Flock as key in their investigation.

For those who haven't been following Portland before, this has been going on for months.

Earlier today, federal agents unleashed chemical weapons on protesters, elected officials, a local congressional candidate, and a local mayor.

Defiant anti deportation activists remain. Another protest is planned for 7pm.

All I can think about today is how one of the first articles I wrote for @lcrw.bsky.social was after me and my colleagues at Double Sided Media were forced to flee a Turning Point USA event after being threatened and then circled by the Proud Boys who has been invited to the event as "security."

Police with their own on the ground propaganda arm is incredibly bad as it is a clear step towards shutting down independent journalism’s ability to counter the false claims police make and use as pretext or excuse.

Last week, police officers in LA detained two real journalists they falsely accused of impersonating journalists.

This week, a journalist in Eugene caught a police employee actually impersonating a journalist. You’ll be shocked to learn he wasn’t detained.
