John Collison is a businessman who’s good at making money for himself. If you’re a businessman interested in making money for John Collison then you should listen to him. If you’re not a businessman interested in making money for John Collison then his opinion is no more important than anyone else’s

I'd add that this is not only the highest number of votes of any candidate, but also on track to be the highest percentage by a significant margin (unless something changes drastically)

De Valera got 56.3% of first prefs in 1959, while Higgins' 822k votes in 2018 represented 55.8%

Catherine Connolly wins more votes than any other single electoral candidate in Irish political history

The Irish media: Yeah well what about the random chuds who drew a cock and balls on their ballots?

Catherine Connolly got more votes than any other president in history - any pol corr or commentator trying to convince you that the story is actually the spoiled votes is showing you their whole arse, and should be treated accordingly.

I have many other examples of how your article distorts my words but this medium is not the best for long lists. I am
1. not against the DLR connector per se
2. against tokenism in our struggle to meet climate targets
3. against continuing investment in initiatives that cannot prove effectiveness

If we just take the section you posted there:
1: I never referenced any such research
2: I was quoting the engineer. This was not my statement
3: Increased cycling and reduced driving is not evidence of modal shift. This is your inference. Until there is a metric for modal shift we won’t know.

Cian you don’t know me. You never even picked up the phone to talk to me. But you are very swift with you judgements. You emailed me saying you were writing about councillors who are against the DLR connector and yet the article is almost 100% about me and went up within hours of my reply to you.

@cianginty.bsky.social Your article is peppered with misquotes and untruths and omits the key point that neither the NTA is ploughing ahead with GDCNP despite having no evidence that cycle lanes are affecting modal shift. Publish my original email if you have the guts.

NHS consultant report on needless hip surgeries The Ditch is now publishing the report in full.

Micheál Martin today called this an 'alleged draft report'

There's nothing alleged about it

An NHS consultant conducted it and concluded that 80 percent of particular surgeries on children were unnecessary in one Dublin hospital

Here it is. In full

@ Dún Laoghaire Rathdown council meeting Mon May 12th, I & 9 other councillors, intend to propose a motion calling Irish Government to stop facilitating trade in Israeli bonds.
For this motion, standing orders must be suspended. Pls contact your local councillors demanding support for suspension

@simonharrisireland.bsky.social You have recognised Israel’s action in #gaza as “Despicable and Unconscionable”. Can you not see what they do on the West Bank is the same? Walk your talk!

At Roger Casement Summer School, Economics Prof. Mohammad Migdad, recently extracted from #Gaza by Irish Dept. Foreign Affairs gave extremely moving account of last 2 years in Gaza where “everyone is waiting to die”. (See also tinyurl.com/2ndzv9ay )
Will the Irish media tell his story?

We are seeing a very clear pattern of banning things that make Trumpists and their kids feel bad:

- Books about colonialism, slavery and segregation
- Challenging ideas about gender
- Protests against genocide
- Science generally

It's a blanket ban on hard feelings. They called us snowflakes.

'Benefits would outweigh costs' of scheme to DNA test dog poo Similar schemes are already in place in other countries so the idea should not be pooh-poohed, one councillor says.

My proposal for a nation-wide scheme for detection of #dogfouling based on canine DNA samples get more coverage today on @thejournal.ie.

Not only would the benefits of the scheme outweigh costs, the fines should cover the costs of testing jrnl.ie/6666963
