I never made this connection as a kid, or frankly as a young adult. We'd go to campgrounds, and despite being at a higher density than most suburban neighbourhoods, they comfortably exist with one-land streets, ultra-low speed limits, people walking in the middle of the street, and bikes EVERYWHERE.
