My first taste of one of the Oregon Homegrown Collaborations. This is the TPK/Oregon City joint venture known as “Like, Comet, Subscribe.”
It’s a vivid, Stratalicious IPA, with a bunch of dankness shot through with shafts of citrus. A very impressive beer that augurs well for the project.

Also Oregon reigns supreme in Beer. That’s not open for debate. That’s just a fact. Best beer in the world is on the west coast.

Workers at Henry Weinhard Brewery, circa 1910. Oregon Historical Society / #OrHi 50626
“To the breweries at the time, this seemed catastrophic. Karl Ockert, the founding brewer at BridgePort, laughed when he recalled learning that the Widmer Brothers were planning a brewery—and just a block away. “This city will never support another brewery,” he recalled thinking. “Two breweries? We’re toast!” Of course, the opposite happened. One brewery is a curiosity; two is a coincidence. Four is a phenomenon. Portland didn’t have a glut of new breweries—it had a critical mass.”

George Johnson takes 12 minutes for perfection
George Johnson, the owner of both Assembly Brewing locations in Portland, is a native Detroiter who liked good beer and Detroit-style pizza.
Great story on KOIN about the pizza at Assembly Brewing and how owner George Johnson learned to make a perfect pie in his hometown Detroit’s inimitable style.
