The job of a doctor is not, necessarily, to be kind or popular or fluffy or liked.

It is to do and to say the right thing for your patients.

However difficult it may be to do so.

However tough you may find it.

Many institutions pretend otherwise, including the GMC.

A fantastic talk yday that I was so happy to attend & I'm glad Rachel has detailed it here for others.

Telling staff to "be kind" in this context feels like a manipulative tactic designed to gloss over the difficulties of working in today's NHS - code for keeping quiet over the things that matter.

We live in a world where the United Nations has to persuade world leaders to do something via social media
