Dr Ward is right of course. Divisive part Maori Seymour unwilling to attend Ratana Celebrations due to his naive interpretation of Ratanaโ€™s significance to Maori but mixing and mingling happily with the Indian fraternity who no doubt contributed heartily to his campaign! Hypocrisy writ large!

Luxon once bleated that NZ was a wet, whiny inward looking country; why then object to encouraging Te Reo to broaden and strengthen bilingualism -that older Kiwis struggle to understand is a feeble excuse & does nothing to strengthen relations with Maori; about as puerile as redefining te Tiriti!

My Crepe Myrtle looking pretty in pink! With so much rain recently everything in the garden looking lush!

OK Josh - As a casual observer of Aotearoaโ€™s politics from Australia Iโ€™m completely over Stuff for all the reasons you allude and more. Maybe you or someone from Bsky can set me on an independent daily news path minus the biased right wing claptrap served up by mainstream media!

These singers were obviously years ahead of their time and sang with such utter conviction - who would have thought their words would ring so true?

My friend still composes, plays & sings - if it were possible I would post his latest protest song relating to The Voice Referendum. He has a soft gentle voice and with the Irish brogue it is very compelling! He told me he regularly used to busk in London & here in Brisbane!

This thread reminds me of my 82yr old Irish guitar playing friend who regularly attends Climate Change rallies and recently joined demonstrators at local banks to condemn their involvement in the fossil fuel industry. He sang at Wembley Stadium with Joan Baez and Bob Dylan!

Yes, we had Arcoroc mugs too - they looked dreadful once they acquired a few scratches but were common place mugs around at the time! Happy Xmas Jacqui to you and yours!

Take care Jeff! And I see there is yet another strain to contend with. I hope the New Year brings better health to you and yours!

Iโ€™m not bothered about the State house JM lived in suffice to say it was clearly warm and dry as opposed to sleeping rough in mid Canterbury a southern province known for harsh winters and prevailing westerlies. Timaru Boys High School offered him prestige/status!

JM is very special indeed! No doubt his Mum was influential in ensuring he received a good education but he is fooling no one if he does not concede the tremendous kick start he received courtesy of the welfare state which Labour provided for his family when they needed help most!

So James Willis doesnโ€™t care what sort of catastrophic world he leaves for his grandchildren to inherit, (or anyone else for that matter) just so long as he peddles oil and gas exploration with his daughter Nicolaโ€™s blessing! There are no words!

Your guess Jenny is as good as mine!?? Aotearoa got what it voted for, warts and all! The Coalition have unleashed a monster more perverse than they ever imagined- Offside with world opinion indicators; messing with Te Tiriti, Maori, health, education outcomes will drop, but landlords will prosper!

Donโ€™t feel bad - whilst walking my dog I caught up with an old acquaintance who was heavily involved in the advocacy group GetUp - imagine the look I received when I asked him whether he was still involved in WhatsApp - his quizzical look gave way to โ€œis she insane?โ€ when I repeated the question!

What ever happened to a fair & equitable society - such a situation is amoral when so many families are struggling NZ wide. With 3,000 families about to get an extra $250 per fortnight tax relief only God knows how 600,000 are expected to manage now without Xmas hampers from the Sallies!

It is extraordinary that NZ media gave so much credence to Luxonโ€™s abilities on face value (former CEO of AirNZ, and stint at Unilever) and now that he would be PM his somewhat hazy credentials are only now being challenged by them. It is gross negligence & media should be held to account!

Mike,so is this your 6th Covid shot! My friend has just succumbed to Covid and is yaffling into anti virals as I type. As a person with only one lung she is already compromised but the fever abated today and she now has the cold symptoms to contend with! But why a whooping cough jab?Good luck!

Just catching up after 24 hrs without phone or internet (Optus out[r]age) I think your suggestion is entirely appropriate Mike given the length of time, the egos, postulations and prevarications going on behind closed doors -yes, call a snap election and save us all from a fate worse than death!

I enjoyed this thread - Iโ€™m a gardener & a puristโ€™s when it comes to garden implements preferring hand shears and no electrical or petrol driven devices.I make an exception for the lawn mower out of necessity. Weeding/nurturing plants is therapeutic to me. An apartment sounds ideal for you folk!

I cannot vouch for the authenticity of this quote purported to have been made by PM elect Luxon, but if he is going to speak thus on the world stage, may I suggest he take an interpreter with him because otherwise he will be misunderstood on so many levels!

Agree. I have a bus stop right outside my home - I would no more consider taking my car to the city (Brisbane CBD) than fly to the moon. I can be at Roma Street, Southbank, King George Square and all the theatres within 15 mins or less. Kiwis obsession with their cars is bonkers in a modern city!
