I don't know why we had to have these elections for people - and especially journalists - to stop posting on X. It's nice that BlueSky is enjoying a resurgence - we need a place to be what Twitter was, for all its flaws.

About a year ago I wrote an angry comment to my NPR station asking why are they still engaging via X if they care about journalistic integrity. I thought the comment was poorly written and didn't send it, but the sentiment was real.

Of course that’s not how things work out. I shall not spoil any more but I spent the week stuck in the arctic. It was beautiful and full of terror. It’s time to come back to reality and face our own looming and slowly unfolding disaster.

Then the captain concocted a wild plan that will have him escape the situation by going on a death march for 800 miles on an ice desert so he could get help for the ships. It was a desperate crazy plan but all I could think was: you lucky bastard, you get to try something and get away from it all.

Either way it’s incredibly exasperating to try and play with other humans, find only bots and then have them mimic _the worst aspect of playing against other humans_ and basically nothing else.

I imagine the developers wanted to make them believable as human players and probably had them wait some time drawn from a distribution around the mean of how long human players take to respond, or perhaps they even mimic human patterns (I noticed they are sometimes ‘online’ and take multiple turns)
