Andrew Cuomo couldn’t allow his first, tepid recognition of reality β€” that the Israeli government, with the full support of the Trump administration, is starving the people of Gaza β€” last more than a few hours without walking it back.

This is someone who believes in nothing.

There's the part where Moses leads his people out of bondage. The point is that religion isn't just believing everything you read in some book. A faith is a community of shared stories, references, & commitments. These can be argued over. How do you think scriptures get chosen in the first place?

I am quoting this, because it is a common misunderstanding of religion, in that it assigns the qualities of *extreme conservative* religions to all religions, especially all forms of Protestantism. This is the Christopher Hitchens effect. He did us all a great disservice.

Column | Adult son β€˜canceled’ his grandma, uncle and cousin. We are heartbroken. Grandma’s views on women, and uncle and cousin’s use of racial slurs, crossed the line for the letter writer’s 26-year-old son.

A column in the Washington Post yet again complains of mean younger liberals canceling older relatives.

A poll they linked shows parents cut off children more than vice versa. But the story is always how younger liberals are mean to racists, and can they please stop that. (Gift link)

Yeah but medicinal scientists can get the ideas for what to isolate from local traditional medicines. Wouldn't always look in these places otherwise. But very with you in the overall thrust.

We used to have some societal norms against this stuff, and they were getting stronger. Then the editors and investors decided that *actually* the cultural crisis is white men feeling any doubt about themselves whatsoever.

Desallines - A Maligned Hero Gets His Due Dessalines was a man of action more than ideas, but his actions helped bring these ideas into existence, along with a wide range of revolutionary thought around the world, inspired by Haiti’s example.

"Thomas Jeffersonβ€”who refused to recognize Haiti’s independenceβ€”still holds a place of honor in the liberal political canon, while Jean-Jacque Dessalines, responsible for Haiti’s Declaration, is a virtual non-personβ€”if not a pariah." www.liberalcurrents.com/desallines-a...

You know at some point we liberals kind of just have to lean into this

Yes, liberalism is a universal philosophy! Yes that means everyone! Even if the existing power structures in many places don't like it! That's kind of the whole point!
