Hi there, I'm hoping to combine the baikal teal and pallid harrier on a train/bike adventure v soon. I'm struggling to pin down the best place to look for the teal though. Is the lane at 51.700922,-4.047737 a good starting point?

Flock of dark-bellied brent geese with a possible interloper in the top line, second from left. The unusual bird has a thicker-set white head. It also has obvious white flashes on the wings and a suggestion of a lighter upper forward wing.
Noting report of a possible blue-morph snow goose at #Cley (via cleybirdclub.org.uk/list-sightin... ), I saw the bird at Cley and had coincidentally photo'd it with my phone when it flew over the marsh nr Blakeney (2nd from left, top row). I'm no expert, but thought worth sharing if it helps id.

Six Dark-Bellied Brent geese fly in formation over a muddy tidal creek.
A very special end to a lovely holiday as a #glossyibis flew straight past me at #NWT #Cley Marshes reserve whilst I saw in the middle of the three central hides. It came in low from the west and was heading SE towards Pat's Pool when it was lost from view. #Norfolkbirding

Skein of dark-bellied Brent geese strung out across the blue morning sky. Whispy cirrus clouds are in the background.
You only live twite! A beach walk from #Cley to #Salthouse and back was rewarded with a small, but confiding flock of #Twite. Cherries on a cake that included hundreds more geese (DBB are quickly becoming my faves), and a barn owl first thing. #norfolkbirding

A very wet afternoon, but an equally warm welcome at #CleyMarshes #NWT. 23 sp. seen with water pipit on Simmond's scrape the star. Incredible, close-up and prolonged views of little egret, common snipe, and water rail from Bishop's hide were also highlights. #WildlifeTrust #Norfolkbirding

Out of focus photo of an Eastern Black Redstart perched on a branch within a bush. The bird's head and wings are black, with the breast a rusty red colour.

Large flock of lapwing flying in front of clouds.
A frosty cycle through the Vale was rewarded with the beautiful bubbling sounds of lapwing. It's been a few years since I saw them in these numbers, so it was a very welcome sight. About 300 were in stubble fields near Dyffryn along with 6 golden plover, and 10+ stock doves. #birdingwales

Aside from limitations on specific salmon and bass fisheries, this seems to be it for shore netting rules...

Hi, I did ring NRW and they weren't interested because it's in coastal waters and outside a formally protected area (normally for bass or salmonids).

Quite how shore nets like these are legal is beyond me. Two turnstones were trapped this morning at Rhos Point. I untangled both and they were able to fly off unharmed before being drowned by the rising tide.

I really agree, but I don't see that happening by itself. It's too easy to litter and get away with it. Perhaps dangling a carrot at the problem night help?

Bin bags full of litter and part of a lorry bumper collected during a beach clean. The shore is rocky, with a line of seaweed stetching into the distance. Tall cliffs rise to the right of the image.
Plastic fishing line tangled in seaweed.
Another day, another #beachclean. On the short walk from #Penarth pier to the barrage I filled three bin bags. Plastic drink bottles, beer cans, and takeaway drink lids were the most common items. Time for a deposit return scheme? #takeyourrubbishhome @keepbritaintidy.bsky.social #singleuseplastic

Thought-provoking article on the government's derisory approach to planning and biodiversity protection. Lapwing and Kestrel have streets in their name on land that once supported both species near me. Sadly I suspect most residents rarely see either of them now. www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happen...
