MTA to get rid of remaining ‘80s orange-and-yellow-seated subway cars in 2025

Everyone is understandably lamenting the orange and yellow seats disappearing from the subway, but what I really miss is pro-public health messaging raising awareness of masks on public transport. Sigh.

This particular fried noodle dish has actually become part of Mauritian cuisine and is a local favorite enjoyed by all. It’s not at all the same flavor or texture as the Chow Mein I’ve tasted in Chinese restaurants in North America. I love both but this always reminds me of home 🤤

Mauritian Chow Mien (it’s spelled correctly, it’s Hakka) and poached fish. The fish recipe is from Chef Chu’s book. Chef Chu in Los Altos used to be a go-to when I lived in the Bay Area. He also happens to be @jonmchu.bsky.social ‘s proud dad!
