23.09.2025 19:09 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I keep trying to keep a rhythm with BlueSky, but of all my internet things, it ends up feeling the most doom-scroll-y and I drop away. But life isn't a video game, and shoveling crap at colleagues and customers is not a winning long-term strategy. No LLM can stand in for actual human teammates.

Yep - a recording will end up on YouTube sooner or later. I’ll make a point to share it here plus we’re hoping this becomes a bit of an ongoing dialogue vs. a one and done.

I spend a lot of time explaining what I mean by #complexity informed. I enjoy it, but I wished there was a video (more invitation than explainer) to help me do the job. After hunting for something that didn't really exist, I decided to just make it. Maybe it'll help you too: youtu.be/o-gOyaXZLqo?...

So basically, you made me answer the doorbell through a gauntlet of barking dogs to sign for a letter, only for that letter to say, in essence, "sorry, not sorry"... ?
If I didn't already hate you and wasn't already scheming on how to abandon private insurance in 2026, I certainly would be now.
That was back in December. Today, I received a certified letter - had no idea who was sending me mail I had to sign for - and it turned out to be my insurance acknowledging said grievance and basically saying "it's not our fault, it's your greedy doctor."
08.01.2025 18:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I love this doctor. So, I'm heartbroken and angered. At the time, the doctor's office suggested that frustrated patients file a grievance with said insurer, which I know from years of work in this industry will be meaningless for me and other patients, but I side with my doctor so I did it anyway.
08.01.2025 18:11 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Last year, my health insurance company refused to negotiate a reasonable 2025 contract rate with my doctor's org, so in November I got the dreaded "we're no longer in network with your insurance, starting 1/1/25" letter. My options are now to pay out of pocket (not feasible) or find a new doctor.

08.01.2025 01:01 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0T-Rex: It's time to learn about history! And what IS history? EASY: T-Rex: History is all the stuff that happened in the past!
T-Rex: Luckily, since it IS the past, we can all ABSOLUTELY agree on what happened. Since events are knowable and non-changing - just like ourselves! - there is never any disagreement on what or even IF something happened, and these disagreements don't THEMSELVES change over time, suggesting the need for a "history of history", or "historiography", if you will.
Utahraptor: Sounds like you're kinda suggesting there ARE those things. T-Rex: No! Of course not!! T-Rex: Facts are facts, and what ARE people but an internally-consistent collection of facts? Utahraptor: Nothing! We are all NOTHING if not a knowable, objective, and invariable subset of facts chosen from a larger set of immutable facts, and our actions reflect that!!
Narrator: LATER, T-REX CHANGES HIS MIND ABOUT ALL THIS STUFF: T-Rex: Lol whatever, it's FINE
What is a man? A reasonable little pile of facts, sorted reasonably.
