10,000 city workers in Philadelphia with AFSCME District Council 33 are now on strike.

The union was unable to reach a deal with the city on a new contract by last night's deadline.

Workers are demanding better wages and job security and more substantial health benefits for all members.

This is the darkest time in our nation since the Civil War. The right is radicalized at Berlin 1941 levels and many Americans are celebrating cruelty and lawlessness masquerading as power.

It is time for an awakening of morality, decency and public resistance to evil.
