Young people SHOULD “have it easier” than you did. I’m sorry you got the strap up hill both ways and paid your debts with pounds of flesh, but the reason we work for progress is to make growing up and growing old gentler, easier, kinder, freer. Struggle isn’t necessary in a healthy society.

Turkey Is Now a Full-Blown Autocracy
Erdogan may come to regret his latest power grab.
By forcing Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu out of politics, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government have taken a momentous step toward a full, Russian-style autocracy—a system in which elections are purely for show, writes @gonultol.bsky.social.

The past ten years has just been the same clutch of morons and apologists insisting that Trump would never cross that line and then shuffling along with him to insist that he would never cross that next one.

A good thing to do if you are flailing a bit right now (as who is not??) is to get in touch with your own values, the things that you find life affirming and necessary in the world. Read some inspiring works about things you value - labor solidarity, scientific achievement, social justice.

didem madak’ın şiirlerini okumayı -beklentim çok yükseldiği için- bir süredir erteliyordum, keşke çok daha erken okusaymışım. uzun süredir bu kadar hissederek okuduğum şiirlere denk gelmemiştim.
