This striking account from August 1872 tells of a colliery "ghost." This report comes from near Wrexham, but colliery ghosts are a common theme across Britain. Reports often feature ghostly miners, eerie sounds, and apparitions warning of impending doom.

After Robert de Marmion evicted the nuns of Polesworth Abbey, the ghost of its first abbess, St Editha threatened Marmion with the fires of Hell if the nuns could not return. Stabbing him with her crozier she vanished. De Marmion restored the nuns to the abbey and his crozier wound healed instantly.

Across the centuries, the saintly dedication of a parish church can change β and at Manordeifi in Pembrokeshire, it is thought that the church's dedication has shifted several times throughout its long history.

My photo shows two kitten pawprints imprinted on a Roman red clay roof tile (tegula). The kitten walked on the wet clay tile as it was lying out to dry before firing. The tile is on display at Lullingstone Roman Villa in Kent.

A hand clutching a lovely pint of beer by a river.
I love summer. The afternoons spent in a good beer garden is one of my favourite things to do, however this heat is also draining my energy. England feels more like Australia every day of this heat wave! Anyway, I've had very little sleep, cheers
