A 22°c spring night with a cool breeze coming through and dropping the temperature. The perfect sort of night to sit on the balcony and read. Maybe sip a little glass of wine.

I have had family visiting since Wednesday night and have had to rearrange things in the apartment a bit. The Cat is not a fan of the changes or all these people in her space.

My almost 89yr old mother arrives for a short visit tomorrow so I’ve just swapped out the smart bulbs in any lights she will use. It’s easier than them resetting and needing to be set up again after she flicks them on and off a few times. 💡

Today is a normal, albeit rainy, spring day. Yesterday was not, at 37°c it wasn’t even a normal summer day. Very happy a change has come through.

Two very damp currawongs using the undercover part of my balcony to shelter and dry themselves off. The Cat is doing the bug eyed chattering noise she launches into when she sees a bird nearby.🐦🐱

⛈️ Listening to hail ping off the buildings as a nasty black and green sky goes over. Strong window has blown over three pots but I’m not going out there to rescue them.

🍝 Walking home and made a random decision to treat myself to an early dinner at one of my favourite Italian restaurants because I can. I’m a regular and Stefan at the front door found me a seat at the bar.

🎶 Afternoon outing to the Cinematic performance by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Starting with the only thing it can - the main title from Star Wars then straight into the shark theme from Jaws.

I’ve started doing nine day fortnights as a trial until the end of the year. I have to say, this might become permanent in 2026.

I’ve done all my chores and the home stuff I’d usually do on a Saturday or Sunday; leaving the weekend free to relax.

Checked my emails while having coffee on the way to work and rolled my eyes at the latest instalment in an ongoing demonstration of denial by someone.

Rather apt “Land of Make Believe” by Bucks Fizz was then playing as I drove into the work carpark.

The Cat is very displeased at being scooped up and put in a cat carrier when she thought she was about to be fed.

This displeasure is being vocalised to the entire neighbourhood like a criminal loudly proclaiming their innocence from behind bars.

I assume this will continue all the way to the vet.

Being from Australia I’m a firm believer in Halloween being imported US nonsense. However, I don’t do bah humbug at work and go along with whatever is planned.

My contribution will be these two meerkats on my desk thanks to the Aldi aisle of dreams (special buys) this weekend. 🎃

🎤 Karaoke and wine on a Thursday night. A school night! I may regret this tomorrow.

It’s good to see some people remain optimistic about these things and I don’t want to disillusion them. Let them discover the disappointment at their own pace.

Friend dropping me home and as I’m about to get out of the car says “I’m going to leave you with this” then sang B-O-P-G-I-R-L got the whole world searching for their own bop girl.

She then cackles like a mad woman and says enjoy the ear worm. Evil, just evil.

Work recently released a draft restructuring proposal with a feedback period closing last Friday. Whenever I’ve heard someone comment it was good to have an opportunity to give feedback I’ve wanted to respond with “sweet innocent child there will be no changes, feedback is a tick a box exercise”.

Trying out some new tea I picked up from McIver’s shop at the Victoria Markets in Melbourne.

I picked the (It’s A) Bolshie Brew mainly because of the name. It has a good smokey flavour which isn’t overpowering and is a blend of Lapsang and Assam.

The Miner’s Tea is very similar to Yorkshire tea.
