Democratic socialists often self identify as Marxists. They often also see communism (stateless, classless, moneyless society where the means of production is commonly owned) as a favorable end goal. And most agree unions are a much weaker form of worker control than cooperatives.

I have no idea what that means to you based on what you’ve said about hierarchy and democracy. Either you’re against ships or anarchism, or you have a way of organizing ships that is anarchist that would be very elucidating for you to explain.

How does an anarchist ship operate?

In an Anarchist world I can still voluntarily join a ship’s crew that has a captain. No? So long as socially prevalent forces don’t habitually drive individuals into such hierarchies, which would undermine the proposition that it’s voluntary.

The implication isn’t that you talked about decentralized monarchy. The post is clearly intended as an analogy.

Anarchism is about abolition of Archons, not Hierarchy. Etymologically and conceptually. Some forms of hierarchy can be perfectly voluntary and just.
