Trump's winning 2024 coalition has evaporated Claims of a conservative realignment of non-whites, the working class, and young voters have been highly exaggerated

Dem gains in this week's elections erased the inroads Trump made with non-white, young, and low-income voters in 2024. In fact, the R-to-D shift from 24 to 25 is double Trump's gains from 20-24. Claims of a GOP political realignment have been highly exaggerated

Sick story dude. I mean a Muslim democratic socialist just became mayor of NYC but I'm sure they were totally gonna make second rate Yale philosophy professors the number one target. Truly the most persecuted amongst us.

God I hate this loser shit.

A statement from DNC Chair Ken Martin on a blue background with stars.

"There has never been a more consequential Speaker of the House than Nancy Pelosi. For 20 years, she led congressional Democrats β€” first breaking the marble ceiling and then establishing the Speaker’s Office as an office for the American people, not just the well-connected few. From championing affordable health care to shepherding our country out of the Great Recession, she oversaw transformational change in our country and fought tirelessly to pass consequential legislation. And as the voice for her beloved San Francisco, Speaker Emerita Pelosi always put her constituents first, from the earliest days of the AIDS epidemic to the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you, Speaker Emerita Pelosi, for your steadfast devotion to a more equal, more just America.”

Nancy Pelosi is a fearless leader, dedicated public servant, and tireless champion for Californians and Americans. There are few in recent memory who have done more for our state or our country.

For nearly four decades, she has been relentless in her commitment to advance affordable healthcare, strengthen consumer protections, expand access to education and protect human rights.

Perhaps most importantly, she has been a stalwart defender of our democracy. It has been a privilege to work with her in service of Californians. Her presence in Congress will be missed, but her legacy will live on for years to come. I wish her well on this new chapter.

Most of the backgrounds in the FR book work thematically and mechanically, at least.

CA Democrats probably just saved the House of Representatives for the entire country but MSNCB decided a mayoral race in NYC was more important to talk about.

We had less than 8 weeks to get this done and managed record turnout.

Stop telling me Democrats are bad at messaging. It’s a MSM problem.

Tonight, was another reminder: there is no single mold for a Democratic winner.

Progressives won. Moderates won. Rural, suburban, urban β€”they all won. Black, White, Latino, AAPI β€” they all won. We won in the East, South, Midwest and West. Victories in races from City Council to Governor.

I am proud to be a Democrat.

I am a Democrat on good days, and on bad.

And today is a GREAT day.

I regret to inform you: winning the New York City mayoral election as a Democrat officially makes you part of the so-called Democratic establishment.

Populist Dems won. Moderate Dems won. We won in blue states. We won in purple states.

Maybe the take is that (a) people think Trump is out of control; and (b) people like Dems when we're taking a stand and fighting for what we believe in - as we have been for the last month.

By a vote of 54-44, the Senate did not invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 5371, Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, FY 2026.

Dem/Indep Senators voting in favor: Cortez Masto, Fetterman, & King (I).

GOP Senator Paul voted No.

Senators Booker and Tillis did not vote.

There is of course a gang of 8 democrats who are putting in good faith efforts to reopen government, that's what the party does.

There's all sorts of spoookkkyy headlines in Axios and TheProspect and such, but if they DO open it, I'd wait to see what the agreement actually is before I melt down.

No, the less-than-clear wording's on me. I have a subscription to 365. It went to the one with the AI for an additional $25 a year ($100/year), so I switched to the AI-less version for the same price as before ($75/year).

I got the AI-less version in the Manage Subscriptions page. It's on Windows, but it's online.
