I have a family member who was upset at his death and who has never seen any racist or homophobic content he’d put out. I’ve seen more than one other person say the same thing.

This guy is describing the victim of violence as a personal friend, and that takes it out of the abstract. I wouldn’t do that to any survivor in the immediate aftermath of a personal tragedy.

I dunno, Peter. Asking someone who is grieving to examine their own life in that moment would be enough to set most people off.

I think it’s fair in the abstract to argue that the reaction by the right to this killing has not matched their reaction to other violence. But …
