I'd missed some of these - despite following global weather quite closely

Impact on food supplies increasingly apparent "Japanโ€™s rice harvest, which is under threat from heat-induced drought and a surge in stink bug infestations". Not just direct impact of #ClimateCrisis, but indirect via pests.

โ€œGaza is hell on earth. Our own staff are fainting on duty from hunger and exhaustion,โ€ says UNRWA Juliette Touma to BBC.

During the ceasefire, 500โ€“600 trucks a day entered #Gaza with aid from the UN, including UNRWA. Thatโ€™s what prevented famine before.

That system must be restored.

People in #Gaza, including UNRWA colleagues, are fainting due to severe hunger. They are being starved.

Meanwhile, just a few kilometers away from Gaza supermarkets and shops are loaded with food and other goods.

Lift the siege.

Allow UNRWA to bring in food and medicines.

The ban on international media to enter Gaza continues.

The livestream of horrors from #Gaza goes on despite the ban, for 650 days.

No one can claim they didnโ€™t know.

UNRWA teams work although they themselves are starving and exhausted.

Lift the siege, allow UNRWA to bring in supplies.

I'm told flooding exacerbated by rain falling on fire scars - anyone know if true?
If so interesting - run-off from fire scars was also a contributor to Texas floods: shows how sequential extremes can amplify impacts, here with fire, flood, heatwave.

Something absolutely terrifying is unfolding in the UK as it rapidly devolves into a Police State, all to give cover for Israelโ€™s war crimes.

Israel is the rock upon which the global era of democracy is being shattered.

Dairy farmers face crisis as drought causes grass fails - BBC News One farmer says she has never seen a spring and summer with so little rain.

Opportunity here for @bbcnews.bsky.social to link story more to ClimateCrisis, especially as last spring was exceptionally wet (impacting farming). Even without a change in rainfall Climate Crisis makes droughts worse through increased temperatures.

Climate groups call for UK wealth tax to make super-rich fund sustainable economy Growing number of campaigners urge government to ensure green investment is not done โ€˜on backs of the poorโ€™

In May, based on research surveys, the @theguardian.com reported that the world's wealthiest 10 percent are responsible for a staggering two-thirds of global heating since 1990. So yes, their wealth should absolutely be taxed to help counter that. Not just in the UK, but worldwideโ€”esp in the US.

We've let sheep farming & grouse shooting destroy the uplands of the northern UK. Yes - we don't need so many sheep there or grouse, and it costs. We could restore nature - create local clean energy and jobs.

This is really important for the recent anti net-zero culture war.

Without net-zero it gets hotter & hotter. We cannot live in a world that gets hotter hotter. Net-zero is a necessity (plus it saves money, creates jobs, gives us energy security etc)

A good step. We urgently need a better informed parliament & public. People want climate action, even though in my experience most hugely underestimate the threat. So much is win-win-win-win on jobs, economy, security, climate.

"The present government does nothing to curb the construction industry". More what "aboutery". We need to reach net-zero everywhere for everything. Yes construction needs to decarbonise. So does electricity. Constructions slowness does not mean electricity can be slow (in fact the opposite)
