I didn't say that. CLimate change makes oceans hotter. Provides more energy to hurricanes. Climate change tends to make hurricanes more intense. If you load a dice so it rolls more 6s, and you roll a 6s, did the 6 happen because you loaded the dice? You cant say. But it was made more likely

First deaths from Hurricane Melissa confirmed in Jamaica and Haiti The hurricane - Jamaica's worst to date - was downgraded from a category five storm on Wednesday.

@bbcnews this is also an ideal hook to talk about future.

Every cm of sea-level rise exposes ~2 million people to annual flooding. That's > 100 million individuals in my kids lifetimes

Warming oceans probably fueling Hurricane Melissa’s rapid intensification Climate scientists have long warned that warming oceans are making such explosive storm development more common

I don't see a need for 'probably' here @theguardian.com . Warmer oceans support intensification.

So far, no mention of role of climate change (hot oceans fueling hurricane and extreme rainfall, effects of sea-level rise) in @bbcnews.bsky.social Hurricane Melissa coverage www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Please check if they’re coming on 27 NovπŸ‘‰ www.nebriefing.org

They’ll hear the evidence that genuine emergency action will make ordinary people much better off.

Climate critics try to discredit IPCC author for linking disasters to global warming Roger Pielke Jr. and oil industry supporters are attacking climate scientist Friederike Otto, whose work has been used in lawsuits against polluters.

Anyone addressing the climate crisis, and failing to acknowledge fossil fuel industry's efforts to block change, is missing a rather important part of the picture.
