Expect some snark along with some history. Analysis is just my opinion, and I might be wrong… Also, I’m human without an edit button. There will be typos.

KABAS: So many comparisons have made between the current state of US immigration terror and Nazi Germany in the 1930s, and I've seen some say that kind of seeks to absolve this country of its own history of racial terror and genocide. In the hearings this week with ICE and CBP and USCIS, you said you have “no respect for inheritors of the Klan hood and the slave patrol.” How did it feel to publicly and explicitly draw that connection?
REP. RAMIREZ: I knew that I was going to make them very uncomfortable. I'm not talking about just the DHS directors there—I meant my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. And I say this often, ‘Courage is not the absence of fear. It’s the willingness to act despite the fear.’ I'm a little scared [in that moment], because if I'm being blunt with you, every time I speak there's a death threat. And yet I thought it was so important, as a daughter of immigrants, as a proud representative of Illinois-3, as someone who has been calling out what they do, to be able to look evil in the eye and call them what they are.

Rahm Emanuel claims his effort to fill the party with anti-choice/anti-immigration/pro-war/pro-wealthy/pro-White-centered/anti-labor candidates was a useful and practical power grab.

In fact, it alienated and sabotaged and demoralized every column of the base. But some still cling to his "wisdom"+

Exactly. They have so much surplus stuff, they’ve been militarizing police departments and border patrol, and that turned out great for us so far!

GLOUCESTER Where it seems best unto your royal self.
If I may counsel you, some day or two
Your highness shall repose you at the Tower:
Then where you please, and shall be thought most fit
For your best health and recreation.

PRINCE EDWARD I do not like the Tower, of any place.

Shipwreck on Zombie Road Vindication means nothing without justice.

"I’ve been told this is not really a shipwreck, but the remains of a gravel barge that crashed some fifty years ago. I still call it a shipwreck, because you still call this a government, and that crashed some fifty years ago too."

Post image Eslanda Cardozo Goode Robeson (1895–1965) was an American anthropologist, author, and global human-rights activist. A pioneering Black scholar and feminist thinker, she combined scientific training and field research with outspoken advocacy for racial equality, women’s rights, and anti-colonial liberation across Africa and the diaspora.
From the 1930s through the Cold War, Robeson was a leading “race-woman internationalist.” She linked African decolonization with African American civil rights, supported antifascist and socialist causes, and spoke at global forums including early United Nations gatherings. Her coauthored dialogue American Argument (1949) contrasted U.S. racial inequality with Soviet claims of social equity, provoking government scrutiny and an FBI file. Her passport was revoked during the McCarthy era, yet she continued writing for progressive journals until it was restored in 1958.
Since her death in 1965, institutions such as the Paul Robeson House & Museum and biographer Barbara Ransby have helped restore her place as a visionary scholar-activist.

The man who taught Martin Luther King Jr. nonviolent resistance is likely an activist you've never heard of.

For Black History Month, @alletson.bsky.social revisits the story of Bayard Rustin, one of the most influential civil rights leaders left out of our history books.

Just awful. People (like Ryan mentioned in the article, who is living out of his van) have been staying awake all night for weeks keeping watch over the memorial for this exact reason.

‘He gave me my wings’: Jesse Jackson opened doors for Black women in politics Jackson, who died Tuesday, worked to diversify the electorate and brought Black women into Democratic politics who ascended to positions of power.

Spent today talking to just a few of the Black women who credit Jesse Jackson with their start in national politics. By inviting them in, he ensured they would help shape democracy for years to come. My latest on the coalition he built as part of his towering legacy: 19thnews.org/2026/02/jess...

The Feds Targeted Charlotte. Now a Local Democrat Who Helped ICE Faces Voters. - Bolts North Carolina lawmaker Carla Cunningham voted to mandate compliance with ICE, and derided immigrants on the House floor. The Democrat faces an intense March primary.

NEW: When North Carolina's GOP wanted to pass a bill last year to require that local governments comply with ICE, they were one vote down.

A Democratic lawmaker gave that decisive vote—as she has on other GOP bills.

Now, she faces a primary challenge from a progressive activist... in 14 days.

Today, I hit 159, down from a peak of 220. I'm at my Air Force weight. I separated October, 1990. I was 23.
