UMR AMAP - botAnique et Modélisation de l'Architecture des Plantes et des végétations Les études écologiques sur les forêts tropicales se concentrent principalement sur la canopée, laissant le sous-bois, zone de recrutement des arbres, encore peu étudié. Cette thèse propose d’adresser ce besoin de connaissances par l’étude des processus régissant la distribution spatiale des arbres au cours de leur ontogénie. Le Chapitre I évalue la capacité de différentes méthodes d'acquisition LiDAR à estimer les conditions micro-environnementales lumineuses dans le sous-bois d'une forêt tropicale dense. Le Chapitre II évalue l'importance des ressources en lumière et en eau sur la répartition spatiale des espèces d'arbres en Guyane française, et le Chapitre III étudie les variations de l'effet de la ressource lumineuse sur la répartition spatiale des espèces au cours de leur ontogénie. Un outil régional pour harmoniser et partager les données forestières en Afrique centrale Face à la difficulté de rassembler et d’exploiter les données d’inventaires forestiers en Afrique centrale, un réseau de chercheurs a formé des spécialistes à un outil numérique collaboratif, CafriplotR, destiné à standardiser, visualiser et partager les informations forestières à l’échelle régionale. Cette initiative vise à faciliter les recherches, renforcer la coopération entre pays et améliorer la connaissance des forêts du bassin du Congo.

UMR AMAP - botAnique et Modélisation de l'Architecture des Plantes et des végétations My stay at the UMR AMAP aims to assess the influence of the spatial variability of topo-climatic, edaphic and anthropogenic factors on the distribution of the Mamora cork oak forest “understory” species in northwestern Morocco. We use a JSDM to model species cover-abundance from 161 floristic relevés inventoried according to Braun-Blanquet's sigmatist phytosociological method during 1999-2004. We employ Multivariate Ordinal Probit Models, which are a natural extension of the JSDMs traditionally used to model presence/absence data. The flexibility of these models is based on the existence of a latent Gaussian field of dimension J that depends on environmental conditions. The findings show that the spatial heterogeneity in precipitation, temperature, and overgrazing rate differently control the cover-abundance distribution of the Mamora understory species. The estimated influences and residual correlations among species have implications for the effect of droughts and increasing overgrazing on species abundance and composition in the study area.
