The osprey have been dull for a while but today one is perched on the high cross at old St Agnus Church. Waiting for the new pope? I didn’t even know osprey were religious. They’re private about their spiritual life. I like that.

Game time brother. You ready?

The osprey have been pretty boring lately. Maybe I’m a weather guy now? It was foggy this morning. Or a rock guy? There’s lots of rocks around here

I don’t think osprey give a rip about rain because aren’t they originally from Seattle?

Delegate that obviously.

Ok but don’t bring it back empty.

I would decrease the number by a few and then do something really important to mess with future AP European history students. All hail Pope Pious the Negative 3rd!

I can’t think of anything weird to say about the osprey today. What do people on the internet do when they have nothing to say?…Excuse me, what?… they just keep saying things? Right right right. Gotcha.

Anyway, I think the crows are online somehow (human accomplice? Beak enabled iPhone?) and are following all of this. I might have to be more cryptic on here. Sorry if it gets weird.

Haven’t posted about the osprey in a while. We’ve been keeping it IRL. I’ve perfected my osprey call and they respond sometimes. No idea what I’m communicating to them. I’m probably causing panic with a warning signal.

The osprey drop the nasty inside bits of the fishies from atop their telephone pole and the kitties of the neighborhood come and eat them up.

There were five crows gathered at the library door waiting for me this morning. Intimidation move? Do they know that I am on the osprey’s side? Or is that just the same spot an entire bag of takis got ground into the cracks on the pavement at snack yesterday?

Is that the pivot? Is this the tone, the brand? Could you imagine?

HAPPY NEW YEAR! WE BACK IN THE LIBRARY! OSPREY BE EATIN FISH! ALL DAY LETS GO!

I’m living off cold medicine this morning so the osprey… they aren’t talking per se… but they are speaking to me.

I think the osprey are ready for winter break too.

In this scenario I’m assuming the osprey are traditional yet progressive christians. Ospresbyterians if you will.

These osprey seem like the type of birds that don’t rush through advent. They revel in the expectant waiting. Their decorations are stark and sparse until Christmas Day and then they deck the halls and celebrate.

Osprey sun themselves proudly today. Crows no where to be seen. All is calm now but the desperate cawing from outside the library earlier betrays the savagery that once was.

Osprey are suspiciously absent from their nest this morning and the crows seem exhausted but self-satisfied. I suspect there was violence here in the dawning hours.

Today I saw one of the osprey misjudge the trajectory and land ON TOP of the other osprey. Osprey lasagna! If this is a mating behavior, please don’t correct me. I’m too innocent for the realities of nature.

A new ruffle in the bird(singular)watching community (me)!!! The crows (which I aslo enjoy observing but as of yet have not announced this affinity publicly) have begun to punk the osprey. Aerial warfare above the school today. I am torn unmade by this development. My loyalties are set aspin.

The osprey, up on their windswept light pole, silhouetted against the bleak marine layer, exposed to the elements and alone but for each other, don’t really seem to be in the Xmas spirit. I get it, my winged neighbors. Sometimes we just don’t have “merry and bright” in us in Dec. Go easy pals.

Oh, you mean that’s the ecological definition of a “niche.” Right…right…okay….gotcha.

Niche? Ur niche. Shut up.

I don’t think the Algorithim likes the concept of Bird(singular)Watching because I’m not famous yet. What do you mean the life of one specific osprey up one specific light pole in a tucked away part of San Diego doesn’t have a wide audience?

The osprey built their nest in the lights above this school during the Covid lockdown when the school was quiet. I wonder if, every recess when the shrieking and catterwauling begins, they regret their decision. Are osprey NIMBYs is what I am asking.
