In my years of reporting on LGBTQ news this was by far the hardest.

But we are still here. You made it to Friday. You lived. Good job. That wasn’t easy.

Through a diversity of tactics, we will continue to live.

Rest up, drink water, find community, so that we can all be here tomorrow too.

I’ll be real, we’re not all going to be okay the next 4 years. Especially the marginalized groups his administration is targeting. Being realistic doesn’t mean giving up, though. Finding joy is a radical act, love yourself and take care of the people around you. That’s what I’ll keep doing.

The point is for you to be scared.

The point is for you to be too exhausted and inundated to take true action.

The point is for you to feel defeated.

The point is for you to feel isolated.

Don’t believe the point.

Take a deep breath.

Focus on community, on tangible actions.

For anyone who needs to hear this:

Survive. You can. I know you can. It’ll be hard, but humans are resilient.

You are loved. You are valid. You are allowed to exist no matter what anyone spews from their mouth.

Self care and be strong.

If trans people are working for you, make sure you find ways of supporting them. It was hard enough to make ends meet before. Now we are active political targets. Client relations will get sticky if you do not recognize the ways in which they can target and harass your employees.
